Mountain Roots Food Project is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating a resilient food system in the Gunnison Valley by cultivating healthy connections between food, earth, and community. We foster knowledge, teach skills, and provide opportunities that ensure access to affordable, nutritious, and sustainably produced food.

We’re reviving local agriculture to build a more resilient, biodynamic future of of food through active conservation, restoration, and holistic land management. Our two-acre educational working farm at the historic ColdHarbour Ranch acts as a model of high-altitude sustainable agriculture. The farm significantly increases local food resources, catalyzes economic growth, and incubates small scale local agriculture.
